8-ball rules
- Break from behind the head string. The table stays open until someone legally pots a ball after the break.
- Pot all of your group (solids 1–7 or stripes 9–15), then call a pocket and sink the 8.
- Fouls: missing every ball, hitting the other group first, a scratch, a ball off the table, or no cushion after contact. Your opponent gets ball in hand.
- A scratch on the break means ball in hand behind the head string.
- You lose if the 8 drops early, in the wrong pocket, or with a scratch.
